Overview

You decide where you want to go with this tour package! We have some suggestions below and if you want to see everything, then you’ll need to book a full day tour. If you want to visit one particular area mentioned below, then the half day tour should suffice. Please do contact us if you’re not sure.

Please note that if you wish to Dharavi as well, you could do a Dharavi tour in the morning and afternoon sightseeing on our Dharavi & City Sightseeing Tour.

For those interested in religion, we have a route in the Mahalaxmi/Malabar Hill area which focuses on religion (integral to the lives of most Indians) and you will learn about Hinduism, Islam as well as Jainism. Visually, this is impressive: you will admire the Haji Ali in the middle of the sea, enjoy views from Mahalaxmi Temple, get a one-of-a-kind perspective of Mumbai (and Marine Drive) from the Hanging Gardens. Dhobi Ghat, the world’s largest open-air laundry, as well as the Gandi museum are also conveniently located en route.

If you’re interested in markets and the hustle and bustle, we can take you to the Mumbadevi area where you will find Crawford Market, one of the city’s largest wholesale fruit, vegetable, meat market as well as Chor Bazaar, known as Thieves’ Market. Close to Crawford Market is CST station, Mumbai’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site.

If you’re staying in Colaba, you might want to do this on your own, but if not, everybody has to see the Gateway of India, under which marched the last British Troops in 1948 to signal the end of the British Raj.

Tour Highlights

Dhobi Ghat:The world’s largest outdoor laundry! See the dhobiwallahs, or washermen, scrubbing sheets from Mumbai’s largest hospitals and hotels at this busy outdoor laundry area.
Jain Temple:This temple is considered one of the most beautiful, intricately-decorated temples in the city. Jainism, an Indian religion, prizes peacefulness and non-violence above all.
Kamala Nehru Park:Visit one of Mumbai’s greenest and most peaceful areas on top of Malabar Hill. You won’t believe the eye-popping view out over Marine Drive and the Arabian sea!
Banganga Tank:Surrounded by Hindu temples, this famous 12th century tank is believed to contain water with special healing powers. Rumour has it that its spring comes from the holy Ganges river.
Haji Ali Mosque:Surrounded on all sides by water, this mosque is located at the end of a long causeway protruding into the sea. It is the tomb of Saint Haji Ali, a wealthy Muslim who renounced the world and proceeded to Mecca. It is said that he died in Mecca and the casket miraculously drifted to the spot where the mosque was later built in his honour.
Crawford Market:One of the city’s largest wholesale fruit, vegetable, meat market— and the first building in India to get electricity!
CST Station:See one of the busiest railway stations in the country at rush hour! CST is Mumbai’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site and it was featured in the final song from the award-winning movie, Slumdog Millionaire.
Chor Bazaar:The “Thieves Market” is one of the largest and busiest flea markets in the whole country and sells almost anything. Taste some local sweets, take home delicious home-made pickles and chutneys, or shop for a colourful vintage Bollywood film poster!
Gateway of India:Built in 1911, the British Troops marched under the Gateway of India in 1948 to signal the end of the British Raj
Sassoon Dock:Built by David Sassoon, this dock is the main fish loading and trading center in South Mumbai. The people working here are Kolis, the original inhabitants of Mumbai, represent the city’s original culture.
